How To Register
Ready to join us? Here is a simple summary of what to do!
Thank you for your interest in joining us and making a difference. Registering with Global Medical Training at UTA is the first step toward an unforgettable experience of service, learning, and community. Whether you're a pre-medical major, studying business, or pursuing another field, all are welcome to register!
Become a Member!
While membership isn’t required to participate in our trips, many of our past participants have found that becoming a GMT member enhances their experience. Members receive special workshops, discounts for events, and the opportunity to become a strong candidate for our Trip-Associated Scholarship that makes their journey more impactful. Plus, you'll connect with a community of passionate, like-minded students who share a commitment to service and global healthcare.
Step-By-Step!
-
Global Medical Training is open to students of all majors and backgrounds. We believe that passion and a commitment to making a difference matter more than your field of study or GPA. There’s just one requirement: to fully prepare for this impactful experience, all participants must attend 2 pre-trip workshops. These workshops will equip you with essential knowledge, hands-on training, and practical tips for the journey ahead!
-
Before officially registering, we invite you to fill out a quick interest form. This helps us understand who’s interested in the trip, gauge your level of commitment, and learn more about your field of study. If you're a dental student, let us know! Having at least three dental students allows us to expand our services by setting up a dental clinic, which brings even more value to the communities we serve.

Once you’ve filled out the interest form and are ready to commit to the trip, it’s time for the official registration. This step confirms your spot and allows us to finalize trip details. A $200 deposit is required at this stage, securing your place on the team and covering preliminary expenses.
Here’s What You Need to Do:
Fill Out the Registration Form: Look for UTA (University of Texas Arlington) https://gmtonline.net/trips/upcoming-trips?eventId=237&controller=event&task=individualRegister
Pay the estimated $200 Deposit: If you are a returning tripper, contact an officer for a 20% off discount!
Confirmation: You’ll receive a confirmation email. REMEMBER YOUR REGISTRATION CODE. You will need it to later pay the rest of the registration.
Note: The deposit is non-refundable and counts toward your total trip cost.
-
After we confirm the trip with a minimum of 15 paid participants, you'll be ready to book your flight! Each participant is responsible for purchasing their own airline ticket, which typically costs between $600 and $1,000, depending on booking times and airline options. We’ll notify you as soon as the trip is confirmed so you can book your ticket with confidence.
Note: Please wait until we confirm the trip to make your purchase. Booking before confirmation could lead to additional costs if the trip is postponed or adjusted.
-
To make sure everyone is fully prepared, all participants must attend two pre-trip workshops. These sessions cover essential skills and information, ensuring you feel confident and capable during the trip. We’ll teach you everything from basic healthcare practices to what a typical day on the ground looks like.
What You’ll Learn in the Workshops:
Medication Basics: Understanding commonly used drugs and how to administer them responsibly.
Vital Signs Training: Practice taking blood pressure, heart rate, and other essential metrics.
Daily Setup & Workflow: Get a preview of how each day of the trip will run, from clinic setup to patient care and community engagement.
By the end of these workshops, you’ll have the skills and knowledge to make a real impact!
-
As the trip approaches, it’s time to get ready! We’ll provide you with a detailed packing list, including both personal items and suggested donations to support the communities we’ll be serving. Your preparations will help ensure a smooth and impactful experience!
What to Bring:
Personal Essentials: Comfortable clothing, toiletries, travel-sized medical supplies, etc. Linked is an example of a packing list: Packing List
Over-the-counter Medications and Vitamins: Items like pain relievers, antacids, children’s vitamins, and other basic OTC medications are highly appreciated and will make a big difference for those in need.
Dental Hygiene Donations (Optional): Toothbrushes, toothpaste, and floss donations are very helpful for supporting oral health at our clinics. Every contribution counts!
Thank you for helping us bring vital resources to underserved communities—your support makes a meaningful impact!
